    Sorry to hear about that; I (personally) didn't block anyone for this set of HITs (this is the first thing on MTurk that I have directly managed). Please email our account ([email protected]) and I will unblock you so you can try the qual if you would like. I didn't receive any emails about it in the last two weeks or so.

    just explain the pay.

    people don't leave hits that say "we are going to pay 15/hour based on total length of time in the game as long as you are actually trying"

    Yeah it is a shared account so shit happens when you have to deal with other people putting up work ect.

    As long as you tell people their final total bonus at the end of the HIT vast majority of users will add it to their review & yes it'll be calculated and displayed correctly for other workers :)

    Though you do still have the history of the account to deal with, and that account is known to be a bit of a disaster as far as management goes unfortunately :emoji_sweat_smile:

    @cereal-bar being communicative with workers and paying a fair good wage moving forward and not hard blocking workers but issuing exclusion quals will go a long way toward worker goodwill and better data. The old adage of you get what you pay for applies to crowdsourced work.

    Good advice, will try my best. I try to respond to emails quickly, and have been watching this forum (obviously, haha!) I won't be using blocks -- I am assuming exclusion quals are just quals where you can't have the qual to work on a HIT. If so, that's what I'm doing already.

    Currently this is the only project running on Mturk for the foreseeable future, but will chat with others in our group about creating guidelines, etc. so that we don't run into any previous problems.

    Maybe applying standards and guidelines for the account operation would be better. Not to mention periodic reviews of worker sentiments and reviews of past HITs would help as well.

    paying people based on how long it takes them to complete a task penalizes good workers

    or in other words, try not structuring the game/payment such that the optimal way to earn money is to idle/stall/afk etc.

    @cereal-bar Tacking onto that, there are people that will deliberately draw out completion times for a bigger payout -- and in a collaborative multiplayer game, this would be unacceptable to those who are stuck working with them.
