Yep. A good Doctor would recommend getting a second opinion if you want to be certain of the diagnosis or treatment options because he/she is supposed to be confident in his/her diagnosis and isn't offended or insecure about you getting confirmation in the form of a second opinion. A good doctor would look at it that way. They also consult with each other regularly behind the scenes. It is not uncommon. @ChrisTurk

this just reminded me about that time we lost a patient at my office job because they "didn't get along with our feng shui" -- they literally called us and told us this. people choose "better fits" for many, many reasons, you're not a PITA because you want to be comfortable for whatever reason.

True dat. My OG doc was a little irked at first, only because when she wouldn't give me the gi consult I wanted, I went ahead and asked someone else who could to give it to me- but, like a decent doc, she got over it pretty quick and didn't let it change how she treated me. And then she felt bad as soon as the scope came back, LOL. It was a case of my doctor wanting to assume that, at my age, I didn't have a second bizarre condition on top of the one I already had, assume horses not zebras and all that. Shit happens, no doc is perfect but you hope they will be rational about that kinda thing.
