That bites, either trying to be cheap or make money off of you. They should have told you in the description if you needed or not, or the instructor should have warned you ahead of time. I would talk to the head of the department about it, maybe they might let you off the hook, or find another solution, since it wasn't professional of them or if enough people do not have the proper specs to run the software.

My class had actual desktops to work with.

I had a Stephanie from yesterday get rejected because "Completion time was to short to watch video and answer survey". I sent very sweet and short email about this violating Mturk policies because the consent form did not mention a minimum completion time. It got reversed in 5 minutes lmao

Regardless of it being an online class if the software was not listed in the course requirements and the instructor is requiring it. You must be provided access to the software or a waiver. This may require you going to the campus or a satellite campus but they must provide you access to the software within reasonable accommodations. If not you can have a field day. Message me if you need info but I do speak from an experienced position.

I was under the impression that he was missing a body entirely.

 

One my capstone classes required a school specific version of a textbook. I could buy the non school specific version for less then $200.00. The school specific version was just under $500.00. The difference was the school specific version wasn't bound and literally was a sprinkwrapped ream of printed paper and the inserts for the front and back of a three ring binder. The pages were pre-punched and just so happened to be non standard spaced to fit a very hard to find version of a three ring binder that the school just so happened to sell for an additional $25.00.

So make money off you in an understatement... That textbook ream of paper should have come with a bottle of lube at the very least.
