It's kind of a dumb way to do it.

The nature of pin HITs, is they are kind of finicky in what they want - you learn the nuances of what they want through failure of goldens.

I feel the workers that provide the best quality of work in regard to knowing what pin wants - are ones who have failed way more than 5 goldens in their day.

 

or perhaps those workers may just be the best at figuring out what the goldens are and not really providing the greatest work aside from that.

Not to mention that they've posted batches with outright busted goldens, either through missing pins or just subjectivity in the nature of the question.

I also feel like everyone except people who are very new to mturk or just don't do pins has missed more than 5 golden questions.

If you've gotten more than 5 goldens in whatever timeframe, you can't do pins now.
