It could be over heating but 10mbps upload is frankly nothing. It could just be your modem or ISP side of things breaking when you try to actually use the upload speed that you paid for.

 

Even under normal circumstances that thing runs at a cool "surface of the sun" temperature dang I have one of those IR temp readers somewhere brb bored & nothing better to do than find out

lmao yeah that thing is fairly old so now that you are throwing a real load at it it could not be being cooled properly due to the thermal paste drying up or dust ect ect.

Meanwhile I have a $100 router that is sitting under my computer collecting dust.

I guess that it isn't a $100 router anymore but it is a good router.

I'll prob use it when my brother and I eventually split up to our own places.

 

I'm still using my sub $25 router that's over 5 years old, but I don't do anything intensive with it. Just turking and streaming shows.

@Randomacts is correct, that this is now an "older" router. When new this was one of the best on the market. There is 3rd party firmware available for it that add many features/take full advantage of the hardware.
