01/21 - Mario Monday

Here's a screenshot of one of the hundreds of musical styles that are performed and written about in the procedurally generated universe I started in dwarf fortress 125 years before my 7 dwarfs embarked from their home civilization called "The Defensive Merchants" to found a new colony oregon trail style in a site I called SpireRivers. My fort has about 240 inhabitants (half humans somehow) and there are about 60000 dwarves in total in this universe. I'm only sim-citying a tiny portion of it, but just modeling the sheer amount of stuff that goes on all the time is taxing on a PC.

The below link is a gussied up external visualization utility representation of my fort from about a year in the past. I've only managed to play about 3 years thus far in game.





Edit: forgot to mention, this is in an evil landscape so it rains blood outside...hence all the red.

I'm alive! Though, not so much after yesterday. No new tattoo for me this year (I promised myself a fleur de lis tattoo, which I adore, only when the Saints go to the Superbowl, so I only have one above my ankle at the moment. This year's was supposed to go on my left wrist). I didn't kill anyone or get loaded after that call, so I call it all good.

I'm still around a little, just between school, and I was sick for several weeks, and the holidays, and and and and... I'm hoping to be around a little more for the next month or so at least. I don't think the course load for this class will be extraordinarily high, so I may be able to come hang a bit more and, you know, actually work, which I really need to do.

I had some damage a couple years ago. It's an insurance scam now. Guys come to the door after a big storm and tell you the insurance will pay $8-9K for the new roof and they'll charge $2K less, so you can pocket the money.

My gutters get ripped off the house about every 2 years too.

I had two of those Mexican Elders in my front yard and the wind ripped one in half. Split the trunk down the middle like it was hit by lightning. It was at least 30 years old too. I was pretty sad to have it removed but it didn't start regrowing anything after a year.

I always worry about the birds that live in my Italian Cypresses. I always find eggs in the yard after a lot of wind. Then I look at the bird shit all over my patio and I'm less sad.
