I was going off that thread, the reason I was confused is that "Your Plan Details" still says "Submitting content extends daily quotas". Are rewards for submitting reviews totally gone?

Ah, good to know. Bummer though, I wish I had been able to get in a few dozen reviews before the API launch. I've wanted to leave reviews for months.

 

Or I could have blindly accepted a HIT like most people... just saying.

Pros:
These are well known, have a company behind them (https://userinput.io) and IME the requester is an incredibly nice person & responsive to inquiries/emails.

I can't stress the nice part enough. He's a good guy. I just wholly disagree with the way he runs this business on MTurk in a lot of cases, this HIT is a prime example of why.

Cons:
$11/hr for the type of expertise they ask for in these HITs simply isn't worth it. For the worker, client, or userinput as a company IMO.

The entire HIT is writing detailed feedback based on what is supposed to be the user's expertise and on no other platform on Earth would I offer my services for $10/hr like this. I can go do a dead simple "pick A or B" image task on MTurk that I hardly even need to turn my brain on to complete for $18/hr.

The value trade here simply doesn't even begin to scratch the surface of fair. That generally ends one of two ways on MTurk: either people lie about their qualifications (so the client gets completely scammed) or they put in far less effort than they would if these actually paid a more professional rate.

I will say that unlike other companies that's not even this guy being cheap, you can go to their website & see their pricing and frankly they don't really make a ton being the middle man. I'd love to see them charge clients more & share some of that back with the workers. I know I'd do these more often and put in more effort for that kind of setup, as is I'd assume this continues to be bottom of the barrel quality.
