Honestly, don't let it sadden you, because it is actually incredibly important information to collect.

I am not a fan of a lot of the people who "study" MTurk, but one thing a paper did get right is that between rejections & "unpaid screening" work rejections hardly even freaking matter to workers. But unpaid work is actually INSANELY wasteful to our entire half of the ecosystem.

If you accept a HIT only to find out you don't qualify for it, please unpaid screener that bad boy. That data is incredibly important to some of the things I want to improve about the worker experience in the future.

I mean, people who think requesters are "evil" for unpaid screeners are just a little over the top, but it is a problem & there should be solutions to that wastefulness that don't involve paying Amazon a king's ransom for the data.
