A sandwich infers [slices of bread] >= 2.

"Grilled cheese" without the sandwich modifier - does not.

I have one of those toasted sandwich maker devices that I'm not sure anyone would actually buy for themselves and I just make my grilled ham and cheese in that. It's also good for making cinnamon toast.
