I had to give Skeet a whole lot of treats and encouragement. He has bad anxiety and freaks out and so it was the only way to make sure he wasn't whizzing all over the carpet. He does a lot better now, but still will panic about 5 minutes after I leave the house sometimes or just stand next to my bed in the middle of the night, silently staring at me, hoping I wake up to let him out. Why not train him to bark at us? Or use bells? WE TRIED! WE TRIED! Poor guy just will not let you know. About half the time, I wake up with the creepy feeling I'm being watched, but the other times I miss it. I gather it has something to do with his time as a bait dog, cause he doesn't even like to pee in one spot half the time and will pee and walk at the same time if he's nervous.

At least I got him to use the pads, it's the only reason I haven't lost my mind entirely. Also, the spotbot is nice too.

 

I find it funny that my dog will play in the snow but if it rains she won't walk on the ground and when it is really cold she will act like the ground is on fire.

My doggo is 13. She's not changing her ways for anyone at this point. I've tried. She only pees on the carpet in the middle of the night. During the day she'll let us know she needs to go outside. I think she used to live with a family who had a doggie door and was used to just letting herself out as she only "asks" to go outside by sitting on the floor near you and staring at you intently, until your skin starts to crawl and you look up expecting to see a zombie or spectre nearby. The kid and I say to each other, "The dog is staring" to mean "You're closer to the door, you let her out to go potty."

She'll bark her fool head off to get you to let her back inside, though.

our governor declared a state of emergency (well, "disaster declaration" or some such) and almost every local business i follow on fb has said they'll be closed. so besides tending to the fuzzes, hopefully we'll all be burritoed up in blankets. my boss gave me the option to come in and i was like lol nooope bye.
