it didn't give irb info in the study, it only used their qualtrics account

 

tbf the only bad experience I've had with an IRB was UC Davis. I don't think it's limited to this study.

 

About halfway through this recipe, I questioned every life decision I had ever made because it was so many pages long that I got lost! I got off to a derpy start, to say the least, and I was panicked that I ruined everything:


The recipe had you rolling out sheets of butter and doing these perfect pastry folds- bird being bird, I over enthusiastically rolled out some of the butter that I didn't flour enough and got it stuck to the plastic wrap and I underestimated how much that dough wanted to stick to the board! Even Birbs make kitchen mistakes

This email is in response to your complaint regarding payment for completing a survey on Amazon Turk. The investigator indicates to me that he has resolved the issue. The project is closed in Amazon Turk and the investigator cannot address any issues through that application. The survey was not approved by the UC Davis IRB and the UC Davis IRB does not have oversight of the payment issue.



I would appreciate it if you cease contacting this department about this issue.

"As to the $4/hr payment for Black peoples' time, based on your experience, do you feel she's offering payment that is out of line with what MTurkers tend to get for doing surveys? Also, is the amount she's offering stated as part of her MTurk notice/survey/job description?

Our experience is that researchers are offering MTurkers pennies to as much as .50 to do a survey (and if per X amount of time, I haven't seen anything higher than about $2). And in my humble opinion, I think this is what MTurk is all about. It puts a whole new spin on "cheap labor", no matter who you are."
