I mildly hate hiking during snek season sometimes That was what my friend said too, upon seeing da baby rattle snek. "Oh, it's just a baby! it can't hurt me!" I yanked her back before she shoved her face in its general direction. We have a lovely combo going on where I sorta zone out mid hike sometimes and lose awareness and she has like 0 common sense but straight up eagle eyes. She can spot a snake blending into the desert from a quarter mile out and I'll just never see it until I'm way close but she also tries to make friends with baby rattlesnakes and once tried to nearly get me eaten by a coyote because "it looks like a dog!", so I call it a draw

In high school I ran cross country. Got my fastest time ever when a snake was on our trail and we had to jump it to keep racing. Literally almost vomited when I was done running because I ran so fast.

 

Horned lizards are the bomb.com, tho. This little feller let me get all up in his cute lizard face so I could immortalize him.
