My issue was I would get anxiety and I would feel like I couldn't get a deep breath. I would freak out, thinking I'm going to stop breathing...then it would escalate and I would feel closed into the point I would need to go outside.

As I got older I learned to do this exercise where you place your hand on your chest and you "feel" yourself taking breaths. So logically I knew I was getting enough air, but my mind wouldn't accept it.

So I would get mad and it would get worse.

Meanwhile, during this, I'm just thinking how much I hate myself lol.

I eventually learned if I played a game and zoned out it took my mind off it so I would just play games until I realized the issue had passed.

I did try medication in my 20s...but it made me feel weird? Like I wasn't me/my personality was changing. It could have been entirely in my mind but still.

So yes adulting sucks and I don't like it one bit.

Also this is exactly what happened. So we owed some last year due to a consulting job my wife took where they forked up the witholding, so we have a payment agreement now. We need documentation of that payment agreement. Which was in my wife's car and got chucked out when the ash hole who stole it cleaned out the front seat. So I don't have the conformation letter.

So I need the confirmation letter redone right? Great. Uh oh, the government is shut down now!! There's 30 days gone. So I called up on the 25th of january friday and got somebody on the phone who said she was manually reissuing the letter and it would show up in the mail in 5-10 business days. It has not yet, so I called up the payment agreement/collections person who told me, wtf no, she can't do that, there's no way we can just reprint a letter with the details of your payment agreement, even though I can see them right here on my screen and relay them to you verbally, I cannot open a word document, type out something that says "Here's your payment agreement amount, here's now long, and I'm bob from the IRS, boom done" print, stick in an envelope and mail it on out to you.

No. You have to restructure the payment agreement from a direct debit agreement to a mail-in payment agreement (for an $89 fee) and then when you get that paper, you can restructure it back into a direct debit agreement and if you're quick enough you won't have to pay a second $89 fee to redo that.

Then you get another system generated payment agreement letter.

    WHAT YEAR IS IT?!?!

@Audbal I just got a response that she'll look at my survey again to decide to possibly reverse the rejection. No guarantee it will be overturned but a response is always better than nothing.

Talking about it can help. It's good to get perspectives from people you trust. Sometimes someone else's brain can find a solution or path or just make a small suggestion our own brains would have never come up with.

My kids are so different. My oldest emotes freely if she's close to you. Like, I answer the phone and hear wailing and "I'm having a bad moment!" waaaaaiiiiillllll. No holding back.

My youngest will, at I don't know what prompts it moments, suddenly blurt out all this massive anxiety he deals with EVERY SINGLE DAY and never, ever, shows me a peek into it until he cracks and blurts it out. Like, I just found out seven times a day he freaks out when he walks into his classrooms totally anxious that he walked into the room at the wrong class period. This is a HUGE stressor for him. Seven times a day each school day he has a moment of "oh shit oh shit oh shit" until he recognizes someone in the classroom and knows he's in the right room.

He and I have talked this through repeatedly from several angles and it just comes down to not wanting to be embarrassed. Which is normal when you're 14 so I can't really fix that. All I can do is "implant" tools he can use when he matures a little more so he's not still freaking out like that when he's 30.

I had a traumatic event happen in 2003. It was horrifying and still affects me. Therapists put me on so much medication because they didn't know how to fix me. They had me on xanax, depakote, seroquil (sp?) lithium and prozac. I don't remember half my life from that time. I think everyone has to find what works for them. I had to quit taking all medications cold turkey and cope in my own way. I'm glad you found a way through your gaming :emoji_hugging:

See it wasn't the saying up part it was the waking up at all. I would sleep 19+ hours a day. I almost flunked out of highschool because I just didn't want to wake up. Ever. Now I got myself getting up at like 9-10am and going to bed at 11pm-12am. That took me 2 years to figure out how to actually do it and it's still rough. I found out I never want to wake up, I just have to. Same with most things. I have 0 ambition or drive to do anything, never have, and my folks told like 7 year old me it was just cause I was lazy lol

I do this thing where you tap your legs with your hands and concentrate on something you find relaxing. (I imagine a room full of puppers). I just concentrate on all the puppy details and tap my legs tippity tap tap tap until I feel less like I'm about to cry hysterically in the mall (or whatever it is), cause crowds freak me the fuck out. I also keep a list of negative thoughts I have and the realiities behind them (Everyone hates me! I should never go out again! ---> people invite you out and thus do not hate you. you're just feeling insecure. you're very pretty and only like 40% of people you meet instantly hate you!) and it sounds dumb, but reinforcing the reality behind those intrusive thoughts definitely helped me slowly change how I approached things.

I ran on lithium during college and I regret nothing about that. I doubt I would have made it thru at the time without that help, just personally, for me. I got to wean off like four years back, but I always know it's an option should I ever really need that again.
