Soooo, I forgot mud was a thing! Was so excited the sun was out, that Skeet and I took off onto the trail, only to just plow into a mud pit. Worth it!

i have no personal experience with this beyond being the expensive leech. my mom refused to do anything with me/neglected me horribly then peaced out shortly after i was born. when my dad got custody of me, he had to get all this fancy crap to get rid of a few health issues i had and give me actual nutrition. he was so offended at the cost that he saved the receipts forever in my baby books. he said it was well worth it to keep me alive, but "probably a scam" :emoji_joy:

    >.> We have a friend who worked for WIC for years.. that program is interesting I guess.
Yes. NIPT is the downs syndrome test & it's pretty affordable ($100-200 ignoring the fact insurance MIGHT cover it then it would be [presumably, though I've read some horror stories online] less) for what it is.

But there are at least 3 (I think 4?) other ones they can (or do) do and it's a bit difficult to figure out which is which, how accurate each is, and the odds of it being important anyway (looks like CF is 1/3,500 for Caucasian babies so good god that's a low chance lol)

Unless it's a serious threat (like it's in your family's medical history) it really isn't worth it in my opinion. The only thing I would be super worried about is if there is a medical emergency that could harm the fetus or your wife. Otherwise it's just something else to worry about. The baby will come and you'll love them no matter what the first time you set eyes on them.

We didn't do most of the genetic testing. There's no reason to do most of it unless one or both of you have a family history of something. We did do the MaterniT21 test because my wife was born with spina bifida so there's a small chance that could have happened. You also get to know if it's a boy or a girl at like 10-12 weeks in.

Yeah, I didn't have anymore done after that. Didn't feel it was necessary at the time. I'm so so glad you're researching the testing though before choosing to have them done!

    Pros:
different kind of study, was kind of fun to do
    Cons:
Says its 5 min, but there is no way that can be possible. The blocks are on timers and it took less than 2 seconds per block for me to guess the size.
