If it was just recently pumped, you'll probably be fine unless it's damaged. Basically, just spend some time redirecting water flow. If the entire yard floods, maybe mound over where the tank is so the topsoil over it is dry. If it's a result of guttering or something controllable, then work on managing that water flow when there's heavy rains.

And definitely have it pumped regularly. I think annually is the recommendation, but that may not be right as it's been a long time since I've dealt w/ one.

If your tank is in good condition, then some yard flooding shouldn't cause issues. It could slow down how well your leach lines work, as it's difficult for them to "leach" the liquid into an already saturated field.

Just practice good septic maintenance. NOTHING AT ALL but waste and TP down the lines, immediately fix any water leaks (we had a tank have massive issues, nearly replaced it, because a tenant had a slowly leaking toilet that they never reported and it kept the tank full), and inform all guests not to flush stuff.

I grew up on a septic tank and it was oh so fun to mention to all my girlfriends what could NOT go down the toilets.

Might want to see when things are drier if there is a way to put any drainage system near the leach field so you can divert water away from it next year? French drains, maybe?

I've heard with yard flooding and freezing you can't use certain things for fear of it opening the pipes and water flowing back through. I know that our laundry machine just pumps grey water straight into the yard, I found the spot on accident with a tomato barrel. I assume that means during this flooding, I shouldn't use that. I also assume that the dishwasher does the same. I hate asking so many questions! Thank you so much!

This is true, and flushable wipes actually aren't.

However, this is like 100% impossible to enforce with people who live on city sewer lines since all the packages state that they are flushable.

One of the most embarrassing phone calls that came out of this office was one we had with some really super sweet newlyweds who just had their first baby about wipes found in the lines. Turns out, they weren't baby wipes.
