I used to live in Olmito. The woman I was staying with said "Get out and kill that spider" It was the biggest spider (tarantula maybe?) I had ever seen in my life on the side of a tree. I take my flip flop off to smash it and start to swing when she yells "careful they jump!" Well, guess who jumped higher?

OH YEAH that's the kind I was fogetting. I palmed one of them fuckers last summer on accident. It just kind of scurried off. But they like to live in my closets in the stuff I don't use often.

 

There are lots of tarantulas where I live. The bigger ones eat birds. They rarely eat children though.

Black widow bites are very rarely deadly to the average healthy human, please don't fearmonger. Sure if you get bitten seek help, but your life is likely not in any danger unless you're seriously ill or seriously old.

 

My brother was bit by one as a teen. He has a hole in his back from it. Well, cause we were dirt poor and they waited before taking him to the doc. It was gnarly icky.

 

You're not supposed to "wait and see" on deadly spider bites, jeez.

 

Natural habitat & where they can show up aren't equal. Strangely enough, random wild animals don't much care about maps colored in by toddlers because we for sure get them here in SC too.

Seeing them outside of their natural range is generally isolated incidents, which is also stated in the PDF linked above, which means they're highly uncommon.
