I love my Roku. I think it's 2nd? gen but it's great for anime or just throwing on youtube in the background while I clean. It has all the functions I need and an easy interface as far as I care.

And yes the remote does remote things

That school sounds just awful. Our county isnt too great dealing with allergies either. My son's school has a table in the cafeteria that's peanut free but other than that they are on their own unless the teacher decides to be more strict about it. I know some moms that have decided to homeschool because of situations like this.

I know that a lot of the android boxes don't allow for prime video because some petty bullshit between google and amazon. or something

 

The newer 4k firetv is pretty badass and relatively cheap. I run kodi on that, useta do the reddit streams before I got a pretty reliable pay iptv hookup. Blows my rokus awaway. Got a cheap matricom game controller and run retroarch on it too.

 

I hate my Roku FWIW, but it was a freebie w/ Sling or something 2 years ago?

Raspberry pi w/ Kodi absolutely annihilates the Roku for me, but I like the techy control. You can even get an Alexa mod for it that was a bench to set up & I no longer use but it exists. The whole thing requires more time on your part, but the control is worth it IMO.

Firestick is the most garbage piece of equipment I've ever purchased. Right next to the Echo Dot, actually.

No. You can’t control tv with it. It’s a super small remote. It’s a very basic remote. My Roku 3 remote has a headphone jack which is nice. Can listen to the tv with headphones easily.
