You are free to joke about my kid not having a dad and not knowing some things a dad would teach him. I have no issues with this! Totally secure in my decision to raise him as a single mama by choice!

I joke with kiddo about it often, especially when I am trying to teach him stuff that is normal "dad" stuff. We were disassembling a climbing gym and I was giving him massive grief about not already knowing "lefty loosy, righty tighty" by heart by age 13. I made him take that thing down mostly alone, so he knows it now, and also finally knows the difference between a wrench and pliers.

Still not sure if he knows the difference between a phillips and a straight/flat head, though.

You just described my house.

It needed painting when I bought it 11 years ago. I can finally afford to get it done this spring (I literally just approved the quote today). And I'm having to paint the annoying old fashioned window grids because the contractor doesn't want to do that part, lol).

My kiddo is growing up around more affluence than we have.

Totally not rich. Totally why I turk, lol.

My kid just looks like he has more because I'm good at thrift store shopping so I can afford his braces, piano, dance, sports, etc., lessons.

 

My dad taught me about football and race cars and tools. It's not odd that I settled down an engineer I had a subsciption to Seventeen magazine and it taught me everything I needed to know about makeup...and then the internet THANK GOODNESS

I went thru some horrifying phases tho. I used to wear neon purple and electric blue eye shadow and I thought that was the best possible look.
