Sometimes it is good. The Greeks offer their entire educational coursebooks from kindergarden through high school (maybe college I don't know) for free. Anyone can download the pdfs of the books. It helped me immensely to learn Greek.

My favorite incident was one of the times I was hospitalized, and I had given them my script list, and I had been hospitalized a bagillion times before at the same place- so most of the staff knew me by then. Some nurse comes barreling in, and my bp is like 60/40 at the time, so I'm barely functional and they are waiting to move me upstairs. She starts asking me why I have "barbies" in my system and I'm SO CONFUSED. I told her, "I don't own barbies anymore...I'm 19!"

Nurse is still grilling me about where I got my barbies from and some resident who knows me comes running in to tell her that I'm on prescription fiorcet for my migraines and it finally hits my little, blood pressure addled brain that she's asking about barbituates. An hour later, they had to take nail polish off one of my fingers for the monitor and the nurse asks, "Do you have polish on ALL your nails?" I snarked back, "Of course not, JUST THE ONE!" The cardio doc was always extemely amused by the level of tude I was able to muster with such low bp

 

I am one of the dorks who will physically walk onto campus and find the book in the bookstore.

I just...do it the way the professor says to do it...Except for Napster I've never been able to pirate anything.

Just told my kid how much his book costs.

Humongous eyes stare at me, "Do I...do I have to buy that, Mom? You've always told me I might have to buy my own books when in college and that's why I have to work now."

I told him I'd get this one.

He's currently online buying a Nintendo Switch. I can see his priorities.

I got a 20 dollar gift card once from one of those. It was a well paid survey, too.

 

Yeah, they have me on so many scripts I got tired of having to remember everything so I got medic-alert and they can just access that

 

When it comes to books, journals, or research papers, I pirate with reckless abandon. There is ABSOLUTELY no reason they should charge the way they do and none of the money gained actually goes to the scientists involved.

 

If I can find a used one that is good quality it's usually fine.

I might look for it online if there is a legit place to get one.

 

I have a folder I have it on usb, too, but the folder has all the originals in it and has been super helpful. Cause, I swear to shit, every time I have to go to a different hospital, they think I'm joking about being a human train wreck

Sure ,if my kid figures that out in college himself I won't stop him.

But he has a developing teenage brain, he's only 14, so I'm not going to pirate one now and start planting seeds that might grow too big that "stealing is just fine."

Not saying pirating in this instance is wrong, I'm 50 and I can see the nuances. He's 14. I'd like him to grow up to be 50 and see the nuances, not just think pirating is fine all the time. Because it's not always fine.

 

can even try for earlier edition if a code isn't involve and you feel strongly about buying the door stopper

 

A one time you could wait til the end of semester and get books out of the dumpster that angry kids threw away.

 

I need to stop with the 4x a week egg sandwiches with farm fresh eggs and artisan bread..but they are so goooooooood to me.
