My ethics department is so hard on students that when I was still undergrad and doing research I could not get rid of a subject. I will simply say that we agreed to meet with participants in a public library. This gentleman was handsy and spoke in a manner that was not appropriate to myself and my partner. As a result, I did not want him to participate in the study I was conducting which involved choosing people who would be providing "respite" for foster families. Normally a foster family is not allowed to place children in their care in the care of someone else, but this pilot program would allow that to occur. We were tasked with screening people. Because of his age I was told that I was misinterpreting his intentions and that he was a more than suitable candidate..... O'kay.

 

Yea, it's kind of a self-selecting problem.

Universities who don't keep an eye on the BS their researchers are pulling are more likely to have researchers doing shady things.

That's what got me on the topic. If I ever said anything remotely like that to a participant my entire project would be finished, done...I just don't get it.
