There is a way when it's court ordered and then defaulted on (meaning, not just in the divorce/custody decree, but that someone went to court because the other party defaulted, and now it's on their credit report). Once this is done, that person won't even get tax refunds...that's scooped up to pay on the back balances.

 

I don't know. It's bullshit. In texas you're automatically default on the amount at the beginning of the month, then catch up as the payments are sent in. So no matter what you do, even if the check gets there the first day of the month, you're in default and it docks your credit. It's 100% bullshit.

 

unpaid child support is debt like any other

 

If my ex got too far behind on his child support, he would lose his license. He drives a big rig so he has never missed a payment. But that kinda makes no sense to me either.

Yeah just go ahead and rip his face off.

 

I understand the people NOT paying a dime, but my husband has never missed a payment, is not allowed to see his child because the mother is a self righteous bitter cranky sue (and no it's not I'm the new wife thing, she's cut 2 other husbands off from their kids, but still cashes that check) but his credit still gets docked, then it "catches up". A freaking mess.

 

Still sounds odd to me (so do the utilities fwiw).. I don't see any of those things reported on my credit as positives so I didn't really consider them as negatives
