not gonna lie - just read that article - and I don't see what the big deal is. Kind of basically just in-a-nutshells what mturk is.

 

y'all know bezos is going to ban everyone who mocked ghost workers and goal bar mockers, right?

I think the major problem is that people are going to use it as a stepping stone to try to claim Amazon owes workers a solid fixed $12/hr for slaving on their platform or some shit, otherwise they aren't treating their workers fairly. That's not how mturk actually works, but it's how bleeding heart researchers who only want people to buy their books think it should work.

 

That goal bar is just the beginning. The end is near
Amazon will slowly create useless features that mimic community created scripts at 10% of the efficiency and then... BAM! all scripts outlawed, only native features allowed

I didn't get that from the article at all. Seems like they just kind of explained mturk from the eyes of Joan which in all reality is a pretty common experience on the platform. Didn't seem to push an agenda to me.


I get that it's kinda cheesy though, and the whole talking of TOTW like it was incredible at 10 an hour and always available or whatever is a bit weird, but the outrage over Joan just reeks of gatekeeping to me.

They don't have to outlaw it. Just make it more annoying to make scripts by using react. The new template they are pushing hard already does that.

Now that won't stop people like me from scripting it but most people won't have access to the knowledge to do so.
