05/23 - Thespian Thursday!

Why do you care about perfect attendance anyways? It doesn't help you get into a better college or anything. It really just means that you are a jerk that sent a kid to school while sick that go other people sick etc.

 

Here we go, another romantic relationship study sitting there, not being romantically completed.

 

I didn't go to the last 2 weeks of middle school or whatever the point it was after the last test that mattered.

 

Oddly this cat doesn't exhibit any cat herpes symptoms other than his eyes, its either that or he has weird allergy issues.

 

My dad would let me miss x amount of days of school a year (usually a couple less than the school let me miss before they got fussy) and I got to pick those days, so long as I did not have a test or something ( I also had to have all As). IT WAS AWESOME! I would sleep in and make waffles and do something relaxing. A few of my friends would get their parents to agree sometimes and we would do something together. ahhh, those were good days.

My dad was usually crazy strict, so it was like my extra special goof off time.

If I let my kids do that, they wouldn't get promoted to the next grade. We have 8 allowed absences each half.

Perfect attendance flew out the window. My kid missed 19 days this year due to tummy related issues and food allergy problems. The school doesn't even say anything anymore. Prayerfully, next year is much, much better after seeing the new allergist.

 

I agree with the sick thing, but I'm a super blessed and lucky parent. She's had one cold her entire life, and a mild sinus infection when she was a baby. If she is sick I absolutely DO NOT send her to school. I'm not that big of an ass. I am adamant about it because I want her to learn that she can't skip out on responsibility just because she doesn't want to do something, plus she likes the awards also. lol Texas also has a minimum day attendance for grade promotion rule in place also.

My kiddo out of this world amazed that she's going to be skipping school when nothing is wrong with her. We'll sleep in and watch movies and she will feel like the luckiest kid in the world. lol

 

Didn't no child left behind get rid of all those rules or is that a California thing?
