The school has to make the extra effort, but the kid has to be there for it is my understanding. Plus truancy laws. Parents can get fined/jail time if their kid misses enough here.

 

My husband got the same thing. I told him you better submit with your ID and email them. That's a bunch of poop.

 

They can here too, but RJ is a "special case"

 

Uhhh no child left behind is about pumping money into under funded schools and schools with low test scores. It has nothing to do with attendance.

 

Well he a has a well documented health issue so it is probably totally under a different set of rules.

 

I mean I'm pretty sure that it didn't do anything useful in the first place but push kids along instead of holding them back in previous grades.

 

True. Supposed to be 8 and then you get in trouble. We flew past that like it was standing still.

That's about the only time I could. I can't give these requesters what they want. I'm a very boring person who likes routine. It's not fair to them to listen to my babble.

 

Today.

 

yeah, the vet explained to me that every cat "has it", but they usually have the immunity to fight it off. it's apparently very common for kittens to get it then have it go away on its own or with help from l-lysine. if their immune system is too weak, it'll cause permanent damage and never go away. they were surprised how badly it hit her, because it's common to just have cloudy eyes, but her full-on blindness and eyeball scarring was an extreme case. so her lifelong treatment is a combination of l-lysine, some other immune boosting stuff, and neosporin directly on her eyes when it's super bad (which she loves, let me tell you, but the way she snuggles up to me afterwards tells me it does make her feel better). they had me using a steroid+neosporin ointment, but since it was going to be long term/lifelong, they cut the steroid because that particular one was known to cause ... cancer? or something? so they said to just use neosporin. (blah blah general disclaimer to not do that without the vet's OK.)

it's been a few years and obviously every vet/cat is different, but it's what works for her and she's a happy blind girl that only gets sad when it flares up, and she doesn't groom her fur too much so she gets dreads that i cut/shave out and perpetually looks homeless. but she's all good. she can still track down a fly from across the house despite her blindness, so i joke she's daredevil.

and she's just too stinking cute and currently using that cardboard scratch thingie as a bed because why not
