My dad taught me the same thing, and treated me like trash over and over again and stood by while others did and acted like I deserved it for not being perfect. It was serious bullshit and I took more of it than I should have until I realized I deserved a wee bit more than that- you definitely deserve more than guilt trips and manipulation. And hey, Matt's mom texted me, "You're doing great!" and I was genuinely confused & delighted. Is this...what mothers do? or something? Success!

I don't understand mothers, someone please advise! My dad would have just pointed out the smudge on my cookies or something.

We still try and rip each other's hair out at least once a month, but I'm closer to her than I am any of my blood relatives. I did once accidentally head butt her, but I still chooes her in my life over someone who guilts me for being born.

I passed on a group cabin vacay cause I'm not a fan of big group vacations and our friends are a little bad at planning and it stresses me out. Almost everyone assumed we were fighting and that's why I stayed home, despite the fact I'm usually fairly anti-social & that I had declined weeks in advance (and despite the fact Matt-bot dragged them to several fancy kitchen stores to buy me a gift).

Kneejerk reaction to a deeper issue only exacerbated by the type of person who would carry out a school shooting seeking escapism/refuge in playing video games because, you know, it's not at all like they have deeper mental issues or a troubled home life. It's definitely the video games that are the problem, not a symptom.

 

I agree with you 100% but it speaks to who he became, he had kids, one with autism and now he's very protective in the sense that he wants everything banned like that. Video games, etc etc, watches the news all the time and thinks basically if his kids go outside they'll die...he turned into one of those people.

 

Yeah, that's a thing I've heard before and love to laugh at it until they start trying to actually do something.

Oh boy! When I got with Husbando they started to throw around 'brain washing and mental abuse' because I figured out I didn't want to deal with their shit. Any opinion I now have is 'his that he forced on me' because I went from being quite left leaning to politically right leaning/conservative. Not that it could have anything to do with they knew me when I was 15 and I'm 24 now. No. Just brain washing!

They tried to tell me he was playing the long-con because I told them 2-3 years into the relationship that I met him on line. Apparently he's just hiding who he is so he can murder me in a few more years!
