I can never think too hard when I answer questions from strongly disagree on one end to strongly agree on the other. It's supposed to be increasingly greater amounts of agreeing along the scale. But really, isn't somewhat disagree more than 50% agree and somewhat agree more than 50% disagree?

Well this is disturbing. From an article (that is more disturbing than this) I'm reading:
