Most months, except for the really hot one (july mostly) or the really cold one (january mostly) my power total ranges from $80-125. In California, I don't think that's too bad at all!

If you have a charity like a food pantry near you the people who run it may also have ideas for resources to help with paying bills. Not that they will pay it, but they sometimes have numbers to call such as the United Way.

If I was going to stay here for any extended length of time, I honestly would. I priced out a Tesla solar roof and noped out fairly quickly lol. Might price it out again once V3 hits but probably not -- I plan to sell within 2-3 years and the market for that kind of thing here is weak at best.

I'm blessed with the relatively temperate climate of western PA in the summer. I don't even have air conditioning. It also kind of helps that I prefer it hot... it routinely hits 85-92 and I'm just like "welp, time to turn on the second fan I guess". There aren't many days above that. My summer bills are my lowest -- $50 - $60 ish for the summer, and $80-90 for the winter. Tack on $200ish a month for coal for 5 months a year though and it paints a slightly different picture. Could be worse for a ~2800sqft 4br home though.

It's really not bad, in places that you need AC. I just like giving CT shit

 

I don't know where you live but...around here there are very low internet plans, I think like $10 per month, through internet service providers. It's specifically for low income people with kids in school.

Can you see if your providers do the same and if you qualify? Might make it easier to pay for each month!

 

It was 92 in my house one day last week. I could not figure out why, the window AC's were on. My nephew had apparently turned the central heat on when I told him he could turn on the fan.

 

I keep it below 85 with gas and electric combined most months, which is crazy good compared to my friends and entirely because I'm insane.. I just hate the water company here. Like, HATE. I have never in my life had a water bill this high, because we have to use the town and they charge base fees which are basically highway friggen robbery and you can't pay online or over the phone and on and on and on.

Also, the lady behind the desk talks about how she hopes it's "always over at least 102," and it was 110 yesterday and I wanted to find the water lady just to ask her if she was happy about this shit.

Sorry, I'm fine. I'm fine. I'm not salty about my water company at all. I'm fine.
