Nothing I have would take me two years to access, so it's all pretty liquid.

Plus, equity. I have lots of that if things get super bad.

 

That's just the overflow from the wallet.

 

There are also some nice benefits that open up to you if you have large amounts of money with the banks that everyone hates but normally they allow invested money to count towards that as well.

 

You just described my kid's father a decade or two ago. Finally I said, "Why don't you take that six figure savings account and invest it, dude?" He was so used to living poor he had no clue what to do when he started making six figures a year. (Meanwhile I was still working my way though college and was super happy I hooked up with a rich dude, lol...kidding...he wasn't rich when I met him....)

 

Mean while I don't even have enough in my savings account for a ticket to Disney.

 

I've never been able to afford a trip to Disney.

Not everyone has the luxuries of living with parents, few (if any) bills, unearned credit, etc.

 

I didn't watch it either but

 

I wasn't living with my parents until just now and I paid all my expenses.

I live in central Florida, it used to be a given to have an annual pass to both Disney and Universal.

 

When I was younger we had a pass to Carowinds through my dad's job. Was the only way we'd get to go. We'd load all us kids and cousins etc. up into two cars and break all the road laws, but hey, no one cares about that when you're like 9.

 

I have been kind of avoiding the forums because I am not in an okay space right now. Losing mom, that was so hard. And it sounds horrible probably, but having to put my dog down on Monday killed me. The horrible part is that what happened with him, there was no amount of money that could fix him. it wasn't genetic, his heart, liver, and kidney panels all came back great. yet, he had this sudden health condition pop up that stripped all his albumin from his blood and made the water in his body leak from his intestines to his body cavities, the vet said it was just sad, bad luck. So, as a social worker, we tend to avoid seeking help ourselves. We are supposed to help other people and be the ones who know how to handle stress, hell, I went to school for over 6 years to do just that. but today, I went in to the mental health clinic at my old employer. And I was diagnosed with PTSD. I argued with the Dx, I haven't seen combat or suffered a mass shooting. But the Dr. said it is common in people who have witnessed multiple deaths. That even though my FIL suicide was 20 years ago, and my fathers death was 30. my sons 20, these 2 new losses stirred those scenarios up. Soooo, this was a very appropriate post today. And while I still don't feel I've "earned" the right to carry a PTSD designation, he is sending me to a post traumatic death PTSD group. That my extreme grief for my dog is probably a safer grief than facing the other loss. I don't know, maybe he is right. Be kind to one another, seek help if you need it. I'm a wreck right now. But if anyone else needs help, still reach out to me. I'm always willing to listen, and much better at helping others. Thanks for letting me vent safely.
