Were any of you here yesterday when I said I felt like a guest in my house?

LOL, I was going to say I told my wife exactly how I was feeling and she told me she felt a lot of that too. So she decided to have a conversation with her daughter.

This led to the daughter who is 19 mind you, crying and saying things like "so we're just in the way and you don't want us around" this is why her and I don't talk you can't talk with her, she takes everything personally, there is no middle ground and she either cries or screams. Then they left for a few hours.

 

Eh. That just sounds like a very immature 19 year old. Don't let it affect you or your wife. The daughter honestly sounds like they need to grow up a bit. Crying and screaming isn't a strong sign of maturity, so you and your wife can't be enabling that kind of behavior.

Oh? I mean if she really felt unloved and such she wouldnt have come back. I speak from experience. TBH she kinda sounds whiney and spoiled for a grown adult.

This is likely the grumpy ash hole in me but like... why do you have a relationship with this person? They dont seem particularly likable, have no respect for your home and sound like they never will. Like, shes your daughter but from what it sounds like she is a negative entity for you, your wife, and your other daughter. She is an adult and you shouldnt have to be responsible for her. Especially, if it is a determinant for your other kid who is a youngling.

My wife desires to have a relationship with her because it's her daughter and grand daughter essentially. But you are pretty much right the rest of our children don't like her and life is easier when she isn't around as messed up as that is to say.

 

I mean... If she felt she was mature enough to have a kid as a teenager, than she needs to ball up and face the facts that life sucks and you chose that path. As a parent, you need to support them, but allow them to face these mistakes as well, otherwise it's always going to be like this. Now, I dont have kids, however I know a handful of parents who have 30yr old kids who still live at home because they know they can get away with it. The one I'm referencing has two 35yr old twins who dont want to move out. Why would they when mom and dad don't have any rules, cook them food, and don't charge rent. They were both in college when I went to college and they are still in college and I am well out of college as of 9 years ago. Your daughter had a choice when she had that kid(which is another topic all together that I will not discuss), but the path she chose is going to be harder and suck way more. Man up and stop infringing on the life You(as in you) built for yourself, and make your own.

You have to essentially make a change because the kid won't make a change for themselves. They will deff hate you now as all teenagers do, but you grow as an adult and become more responsible on your own, realizing that what you did as a parent actually helped them.

 

I dont really think it is messed up; I think your just not blinded by emotion. I think keeping her around is enabling her to never change and in the long run going to worsen your relationship with your other kids.

On an unrelated note. Although I didn't get VRAPI qual, I did find a way to revive all my old Dewalt rechargeable batteries for my drill. So at least I got that going for me...
