My boyfriend and I had to take Lucille to the vet over the weekend. Our regular vet was closed so we took her to a local, emergency clinic. She had a really badly infected, hot spot on top of her head that we wanted to get some antibiotics for. They gave us the antibiotics, and they diagnosed an ear infection and put something called ket-otic in her ears. Well, two days later and my dog is completely, stone cold, deaf. She can't hear anything, nothing. Not even the loud sirens that she usually enjoys barking about so much. I did some research, and it turns out there's an ingredient (gentizol) in the keto-otic that 'occasionally' causes deafness in dogs! We're taking her to her regular vet tomorrow, but I'm more than a little disturbed.

Does anyone have any knowledge of this product, or any suggestions for how to comfort a deaf doggie? She's obviously anxious and wont leave my side. How can I best help her? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I'm sorry, I know this is not a pet forum, but I also know a lot of folks here have compassion for animals, so I thought I would ask. I'm so sad and scared for her right now.
