So, other than the lack of true HDR, the "low" brightness and lack of USB pass through, I should get this? Thanks for the input, that's what I thought.

 

You aren't going to get an adaptive sync monitor with real HDR on an IPS panel that also has a high refresh rate for under $1500.

So yes this is the main monitor I would suggest for 1440p 144hz adaptive sync IPS class monitors atm. There aren't many options for those specs anyways.

What kind of desktop would yall recommend for someone who doesn't game? I browsed SD but couldn't really find anything worthwhile sub $1k except for WM clearance items. There are some i7-8700 cyberpowers near me but they don't seem to get good reviews. I know I want the latest i7 processor, upgradeable ram and at least a 256gb SSD built-in. I don't like doing upgrades myself but will if the original price is low.

Seriously though with how long monitors last I would not want to be locked into nvidia. For all we know in 3 years the best GPU might be an intel one that should support the adaptive sync but wouldn't support g-sync.

Mainly turk and browse. I have a Dell laptop from last year with an i5 processor, 8gb of ram and a 256gb SSD and it's slower than my 2013 Macbook.
