We did get the recipe from his Dad before he passed and the butter and heavy cream AND LARD was listed in POUNDS. It's a lot. But so, so, so good. This is an eat for 5-day kind of soup. Giant pot.

 

For real. More than 1 lb butter and definitely more than 1 lb lard. I had never seen anything like it until I visited the Upper Peninsula for the first time.

 

But in their defense - it gets damn cold up there. You need all the lard you can get.

 

Oh my gosh if you only knew. HAHA I've broken both ankles (one multiple times) I've broken both arms and crushed one wrist, I've broken my tailbone, I've broken my back and numerous fingers and toes. I guess that's part of the reason my life expectancy is only 49. My body is just breaking down.

Hang in there @Tracy Wethington. I'm closing in on 49 and my last break was knee two years ago and still not healed but bi-weekly PT and strengthening exercises and I'm hoping to get back to running and jumping sometime. For now working on stairs. I've got up mastered but down sucks.

Broked was supposed to say broken. I fixed it, but I'm sure someone noticed.

 

this one is the worst -- you can't put a cast or splint on it, just hope it goes away after 10 years

 

Exactly. By the time I'm done playing piano at church, it's hurting. I need a cusion for the bench. The pew doesn't have one either so I'm walking like a little old lady by the time I leave.

 

I thought broked was the best description. Somehow it (my knee) was broked (fell stupidly bringing in groceries) in THREE ways but didn't need surgery. Have other broken bones all over - but the knee was the worst. In hindsight thinking if I had had the surgery and they had given me a bionic knee would have taken less time. Was 6 months straight leg contraption with no bending.

 

Ack. Tailbone wins. That can't be comfortable no matter what you do. At least I could stick my leg out of the shower and hold on for dear life.
