Sorry, I think I'm spending too much time here and am being influenced by @Randomacts

 

When I was a kid and had a nightmare I'd feel too guilty to wake up my mom, so I'd just stand at the side of the bed and stare at her until she woke up naturally. I probably took a few years off her life every time she woke up in the middle of the night to a small, ghostly pale child staring silently at her in the dark.
