    I've had good luck with basil so long as it's kept watered. It roots really well from cuttings in water. That's how I got mine this year, stole a couple cuttings from my sister. I brought in a few cuttings to try in the house this winter, it's taking them longer to root this time of year. In the spring I was seeing roots in 2 to 3 days, now I'm just starting to see roots after a week.
