    Huh. So far most of mine are maybe a bit smaller than the original onion, but mostly are ok (e.g. not super skinny - there might be a rando runt at times but that happens with anything I grow). I'm just getting lucky it seems. I'll try scarring the outer layer and see if they get bigger, or if I can avoid all runts. I plant and use so many each week I don't have room to root any out unless I put them on the rim of the outdoor garden box I grow them in. Which I could do...but so far it's been working for years. But I am adding in scoring the outer layer to see if I can get even bigger ones now! Thanks for the tip!

    and everyone, this is the scintillating convo that could sometimes go on in garden gnomes subforum if anyone checked it often, lol.
