i just went down a weird path in my brain about how we put ketchup on some potato products but would never consider it in others. fries, absolutely. tater tots, potato wedges? same. hashbrowns? yum. chips? i guess that's a thing.

but what about in mashed potatoes? in vodka?

 

you would need a stout chip to stand up to the runny ketchup and not make them soggy.... a ruffles, perhaps?

 

and then i googled "potato dishes", because why wouldn't i do that? and found out there's a dish called bubble and squeak in england, and that's just adorable. and rumbledethumps in scotland. try to say that without smiling, it's impossible.
