It was slow. Eventually some game companies figured out a great trick to keep you entertained. They'd do a very quick load at the beginning, and give you a mini game to play while the main game took the next ten or 15 minutes to load.

 

It's more fun to be 8 trying to answer questions that prove your 18 so you can play a game about a loser trying to get laid.
