Oh no, I didn't say anything, but all good.

We sat there for two and a half hours twiddling our thumbs, watching a cheesy informative video from like 1975, and drinking muddy water coffee. Even the folks in charge were like "Uhhh we have no idea why we haven't heard anything yet, hang tight." Then eventually a judge came up and said that there were two trials they thought they'd need us for, but one requested a bench trial and the other -- the defendant showed up, tried to leave, and was issued a warrant and apprehended on the spot. It sounded like a whole drama thing, and they had to lock shit down and that's why nobody knew anything for so long. She gave us a nice little appreciation speech about yay gubbament thanks you for your service yay, our names were pulled out of the hat for the next year, then gave us a little bagged lunch and sent us on our way lol.

I no get no free food

I've had to report and been pulled into the jury box for questioning twice. First time was years ago, I was in Contra Costa County (not where I am now) and got called into the courthouse where my dad would often work as a bailiff. In the box I was asked if anyone from my family worked in LE and I said yep, matter of fact he works as a bailiff here some days but he's not here today. The judge and the bailiffs there looked down at my name and immediately recognized my last name, I was recused promptly, lol. Turned out I actually knew one of the bailiffs working that day, but I hadn't seen him for years so he didn't immediately recognize me nor me him.

The second time was in this county I'm in now. I was asked if there was contradicting testimony between an LE officer and a normal citizen could I, as mandated by law, judge the citizen's testimony as valid as the LE, basically not automatically giving the LE's testimony extra weight because I'm not allowed to.

I replied that I could not do that, having been raised by a cop. I'm inclined to believe the cop just because he's LE.

The judge no likey that answer. Flat out said, "I'm telling you right now that's not allowed. You HAVE TO put aside your bias." I wanted to curl up in a teensy weensy ball and hide but I squeaked out, "I could lie but I shouldn't lie. Truth is I could not do that." He said a few other things at me, was not happy, but let me go and told me to work on that for next time.

Free donuts and coffee, then they had bagged lunch to serve us but since we were let go before lunch they said to grab it on our way out lol.

But more importantly, nobody yelling at me I would die if that happened to me. I'd probably start crying and apologizing profusely and they'd kick me out for being a headcase.
