Where is this going down, would someone be kind enough to link this for me?

 

Just a thought, but it could have something to do with the aggressive and unfriendly way in which we portray ourselves when we come out to the public at large. I was really hoping we would avoid the personal attacks and engage him in a rational discussion but several of the people making points on behalf of the forum also included attacks in their posts such as calling him inept or an imbecile. It makes us look as though we are just there to insult him, rather to offer counterpoints, which makes us an unattractive place to have productive discussions. If nothing else, it will certain deter reporters who hear of today.

 

Someone I know thru a mutual friend asked me this weekend, "How do I get better at baking? My baking doesn't come out like yours."

My reply was, "You keep baking stuff that comes out like crap until it stops coming out that way. My baking sucked for a long time! It's just learning new skills, just keep it up and it'll get way better! We can always bake together and I can correct any minor mistakes you make while you bake, too."

She still kept insisting there was some magical ability or secret trick that makes me good at baking while her two attempts have been so bad. I pulled out pictures of my own baking fails, a few quite recent, and she still insisted I was just hoarding some essential trick (besides measuring exactly, which I did advise) that was anything other than experience. She did not want to spend any time baking with me and just wanted me to "tell her" how to bake well.

I only get PMs in broken English asking me to help people turk better.

I'd totally talk to a reporter, but no one wants the perspective of a 51 year old part time turker.

Were those from people here? I didn't recognize the user names of the ones who used the insults. The user names I did recognize from here were polite, but the ones who used insults could also be from here, too, just with completely different user names.
