She's here today. I didn't speak with her, my mom did I'm sure. Mom is the owner of this company so any talks like that come from her (after she and I have discussed what needs to be said), and usually when I'm not here to make it easier on them.

Our employee is a bit subdued so I'm positive Mom talked to her but will check in when Ee goes to lunch. Mom was going to tell her basically we cannot work with continually coming in late or calling out for the whole day with no notice, even if they are for good reasons, and show her how many times she has done it (I made a list). That if it happens again in a short period of time (we discussed stating before the end of this year) we will have to let her go.

Mom was supposed to make it clear that *planned* time off, like for doctors appointments, is still ok. (I'll check and ensure she did that).

Thanks for checking in! I'm really, really hoping this works out. I do really like her and she's a good person and trying really hard to provide a great life for her and her daughter and I am just gutted at the thought that we might have to let go such a good person.

 

Points do count. There's a final page which tells you how it works, but @Random Jobber covered it pretty well. I think from memory that in most rounds (not all) there's an allocation based on who gets the most points, but another MTurker is able to change the allocations at whim.

I hope it all works out. I'm not bashing young people, but they have to figure out their priorities. It's a learning process and a part of growing up. Sometimes it takes people longer than others, but this is a good lesson for her. I hope she takes heed.

I've read it a few times however not every time and figured that maybe it changes with some hits, kind of like the timer and the number of rounds changes, and I just missed that one or some of those seven paragraphs of explanation changed. I'm going to read them all thoroughly tomorrow. Throw all of those pages to my printer so I can keep track.

I feel the same way. I'm a single mom, too, so I know the struggle is real when you're doing it alone. She does have a lot of family support that should be helping (and does, but I think she doesn't prioritize the job enough). Even though I run this company with my mom, to stay in business and accomplish what our clients pay us for I've had to make some tough calls parenting wise, so I really do understand the struggle.
