Did see some cool thread going by while waiting at surgeons about card games. I come from a family of intense card players. My great aunts (in their 80's) did not care if you were a kid and would mercilessly beat you. Learned Spades, Hearts, Euchre, Pinochle and a really, really hard game called Sheepshead before I was ten. Is extremely hard to find anyone around here that knows how to play. Been trying to get a weekly game going with friends for years.

I've been slowly teaching all my friends kids and nieces and nephews to play cards and always carry a deck in my purse so even if we are at a restaurant and they are bored we can play Spit or Speed.

I think the proudest moment of my life is when my sister-in-law in Ohio told me that my 5th grade niece has been carrying a deck of cards to school (after we played non-stop for two weeks this summer at a remote cabin in Wisconsin with no internet )- and has taught all of her friends to play.
