We grew up going up north in Michigan with the collapse of the Zilwaukee Bridge. Seriously a big chunk just fell out of it. When they finally opened it they had to bring steamrollers and stuff across it because so many people were afraid to drive on it.

I have a really easy crock pot mashed potato recipe that people love:

1. Peel 5 pounds of potatoes (yellow is best, but any kind works) and cut them up and throw them in a crock pot with 3/4 cup chicken broth. Season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Cook on high for 4 hours or low 6 hours (this can depend on your crock pot).

2. About 20-30 mins before serving, add 1/2 stick to whole stick of butter (cut up), 1/2 cup heavy cream or milk, 1 cup sour cream, 4oz cream cheese, and salt and pepper to taste. Use a hand mixer or potato mashing thing and then add chopped green onions.

It's SO easy and almost foolproof. Plus you don't have to deal with boiling water. I forgot to mention to give them a good stir once an hour so they don't stick to the sides of the crockpot.

 

One more appetizer and I am going to win Thanksgiving.

I put minced garlic in mine (the stuff in a jar) because everything is better with garlic and lots of butter
