Yeah. I'm not super stressed. But I do appreciate the cooking help. I legit have never made real mashed potatoes and am looking forward to trying with yer recipes. If it works it works. If it doesn't I have some instant mashed back-ups. (That I'm totally saying I made from scratch.)

different people like different consistencies and fluffiness of mashed potatoes so whatever you do, it will be great.

 

Hahahahaha. Yes. And I am bringing it so I know it will work.

People will forgive shit potatoes for good beer.

 

Anyone have any experience with these? If you are a fast typer they seem easy enough, I just did a couple but want to be careful before doing more since they seem to be sitting.

A really simple alternative or additional side to regular mash potatoes is to use canned yams. They are already mushy when they come out of the can so I mash them with a potatoes masher sprinkle in some brown sugar stir it up, Then put it in a casserole pan with a few pats of butter randomly placed through out and heat in the oven. I make these and regular mash potatoes for every holiday

Jeez - yes. Definitely. We have an open invite for Friendsgiving with a bunch of really, really good cooks (well except me). Also a crap ton of beer, everyone wears sweatpants, someone will make a signature cocktail late in the night - which may suck, and we might play rockband, do puzzles, play drawful (the most fun group game ever in the history of the universe - seriously if you don't know this game and are with relatives - play drawful) - and have a dance party.

This sounds like everything I've ever wanted in a friendsgiving. Be there soon, I assume you've got a guest room for me to stay in?

 

Oh god. Don't get me started on giblet gravy. My husband was born in Iowa, most of his family now lives in Missouri and for almost 20 years I ate his moms giblet gravy. She would even cook it in the summer if we came to visit and serve it on noodles. It's a CLEAR gravy that concentrates on parts (heart, liver, neck) and grossed me out to no extent. Also for some insane reason she always added chopped up hard boiled eggs.

I always ate it. Because I loved her and she was the awesomest mom person.

But our friends have banned my husband from making it for Friendsgiving.

 

I dunno if you want to be a potato around her kitchen in the next few days.
