And that's part of what I'm teaching my 6' tall baby. That this isn't going to change, he has to develop coping skills.

Which was a good thing to say as then he went on to prove to me the skills he's developing (that I don't see as they are at school) for issues, which made him realize even more he's coping, and we can develop skills for these current issues, and all will be ok.

Poor kid was in a full red faced crying mode in the school parking lot. Partly my fault, but mostly because today just didn't go well at all.

Lol yeah feeling cozy in your own home and personalizing is great and all. But why shouldn't functionality, quality, and pricing be more of a priority than color? Color has no bearing on an item itself (usually) as it just makes something look/feel better, not be better over all, more like a nice bonus to an already good quality item.

I mean, everything I have functions well...there's just lots of easy options for customization in this day and age. I need a stand mixer and I need a table and etc etc etc, was worth it to me to find something functional and fitting with my theme! Tho, in the case of my table and a solid half of the items I own, I just customized them after buying them to suit my needs. A bunch of the others were gifted to me because everyone knows what I like and it's easy to give me teal striped plates for my birthday because you know I'll cherish the heck out of them

Well. He kinda does. To an extent. I got way more out of him today than I have in a long time.

And he says he feels better now that we've gone through all of that. He is really fucking hard on himself, he's very, very anxious, he breaks out in a cold sweat over the smallest things and often has catastrophic thinking.

I check in every day but he doesn't always share, so...Just gotta keep checking in and expecting moments like this.

But, yes, he does seem to eventually let it out all. He looks super chill on the surface but underneath is pure turmoil. He says one of the reasons he loves video games is that the rules are clear, there are save points you can return to, and it's literally the only time his brain isn't beating himself up.

Coping skills was something I did not learn at all until I went off to college and got myself into therapy a record 3 days later because I realized I was raised by wolves and had no normal coping skills. I knew how to survive (feed myself, go to class, get a job blah blah blah) but dealing with my own emotions in a healthy manner was a full no.

Now I engage in self care and healthy hobbies instead of self destructing and self sabotaging....most of the time, anywho!
