    Honestly, Google and Amazon own me a few times over. My banks own me too. A smart thermostat is going to be the least of my concern at this point.

    I took in a legit feral dog a few years back. She was very affectionate, but INSANE and difficult to train at first because she had never lived indoors and such (a carolina dog, too! which was neat). I felt bad and took her in and eventually adopted her out to a nice frat bro who didn't mind when she got car sick and puked in his new stang (this is how I knew I found the right person lol).

    She was super aggro feral for awhile and did not approve of Matt until he brought her a meal of raw meat:emoji_laughing: At a certain point, i think we both just fail to shock our partners with our shenans!

    Everything you say and do is being tracked from your ISP, to your power company and gas company to your phone tracking everything you say...that is the world we live in today.

    For example I literally said the other day Sonos has the best sound equipment I've ever heard and I'd like to upgrade to that at some point so for the last week anything I open has sonos ads on it even my youtube on my smart tv.

    No comparative letters but I do know they track it. I don't want to just hand it in a neat little bundle over the IoT application. It's getting harder and harder to not have everything connected.
    I fully understand they are tracking everything they can but that doesn't mean I have to give it so willingly. I hate this nsa world.

    It's extremely difficult to protect anything like that these days. And it will get harder as everything being connected becomes more the norm. Also as the generation moves, younger people care less and less about privacy and tend to put all of their personal stuff online without even being prompted to do so.

    It's hard to protect privacy when a lot of people don't care about it and will willingly trade it for cool gadgets.

    Like I don't feel even 2 or three generations ago that everyone would have been so okay with having a wiretap in your house. It's STRANGE and no one fucking bats and eye at it. These are private companies that have all this information and you're ganna tell me they're not doing anything with it?
