Funny enough the one time we actually totally lost a dog (we knew it had gotten out) the remote kept showing the dog was right next to us. We were looking all over the yard, and woods and calling the dog and it turned out someone had left the car door open and then shut it after the dog had gotten in and we were all circling the area but didn't think to look in the car. After about ten minutes we figured it out, but it was completely accurate! The dog was literally right next to us.

That's reassuring! I've been researching them for a while but GPS is just one of those topics where the more I was looking into it the more I just got confused on which one to buy lol. We'll be in the forest in the Pacific NW looking for truffles so I'm always worried my dog will see a deer or some random animal and bolt off after it. Yeah - there are a lot of deer in northern Wisconsin and every once in awhile one of the dogs starts to go check one out and bolt. Not often, but when they do it's great to have that remote. Just remember to keep it charged.
Also my brother said that he spoke to the manufacturers a number of times with questions, so I'm guessing if you have any concerns you could call them and they should be responsive.
