    It's just different for everyone I suppose... I just wish things didn't feel so weird to me sometimes. I'm trying really hard to make sure my son has good holidays (as best as I can anyway) so hopefully, he doesn't end up as a walking holiday bluescreen like me. I think he will be ok though since my wife is fine in social settings (she works in an office and literally talks to clients all day) and can handle holidays like a champ. Me...not so much. I always tell her she is a social butterfly and I'm an antisocial slug.

    Oh, I sent @jessers a few of those myself, lol! She reassured me.

    But she hasn't opened the one I sent her, yet, so still hoping she likes them!!!

    No matter what you do when they become teens they'll act like it was the wrong call. We decorate like mad for the holidays and treat them like a big deal so of course they hate it and want to do nothing, while the friends who do nothing wish they did things for them.

    With older kids it's like no matter what you do it's wrong.

    This is my youngest son Dave and I were just talking about what Christmas was going to be like next year and how Victor will be the kid that is thrilled if we send him back to college with a box of groceries or pay is car insurance or something practical

    Yep, different for everyone.

    I'm raising someone like you. I can be a social butterfly. Used to be like crazy. Getting old now and getting sick of people more often, lol.

    My kid? Literally freezes up sometimes (sometimes not, depends, he's getting better as he's gotten older).

    He's the opposite of me in so many things. I was all out there in high school doing all the stuff. He just wants it over.

    So I do get it! I understand! I live with it and am trying to make it less awkward for my kid. The advice I give is the same stuff I tell him that seems to help his social awkwardness (that he's had since, oh, age 3?)

    All the Christmas shopping hate here today....
    Which I completely agree with.
    The only person I've enjoyed shopping for this year was the dog. She has a bunch of stuff under the tree. I can't walk into a store without finding something for her. Everybody else is a pain to shop for.

    I just bought new underpants and they showed up and I am terribly excited to wash them and wear them.

    Really old now. Next it's my new walker with the tricked out chrome spoke wheels that I'll be excited about.

    Guess I'll cross that bridge when I get there. Considering my personality I'm sure he will go through this phase... just gotta do what you can now though. I didn't have actual parents in my life for a looong time and when I finally did it was just one. He wasn't exactly a shining example of parenthood given his life choices so I'm trying to not carry on that cycle.
