They cleaned up really nice. Nothing too fancy. I'm relieved they're serviceable considering how much work I put into them without knowing what they were going to be or whether it'd be worth it. The one on the right of the first pic with no markings except for an "I" makers mark at 6 o'clock and a raised "7" on the handle interests me. Seems pretty old. Has a lot of pitting in the middle of the heat ring - which could indicate a lot of cooking on sulfurous coal or something, idk what i'm talking about. I'm not sure if there were any other markings where it's all corroded and cratery in the center.

I really wish I took before pics. They were in terrible shape.

OOOOOH I love cast iron. Those look great!

 

Wow. Those cleaned up really well! They look better than the cast iron I use every day for eggs! (I just looked at it yesterday and thought, 'huh. I really should work on flaking off all that gunk around the sides!') But mine is perfectly seasoned, very non-stick (though I do use spray oil on it like once a week because...eggs...)

I love that you rescued the cast iron! I had to rescue the one I found last week. Even if I just clean it up and bring it back to the office to give away for free, I will rescue all cast iron.
