Sadly it isn't about the new Chinese supervirus

 

I will say that my nephew was 4 and threatened to kill me so I had to back to the respawn point. But the main problem there is that my brother was letting him play games that weren't age appropriate and he couldn't yet see the difference between truth and reality. And it became a one time thing when we explained that in real life there is no respawn.

For what it's worth, while I 100% agree that there's no link between video games and actual IRL violence, I don't allow my son to play certain games in my house.

And I never will. After he's 18 he can play them if he wants, but never in my house. There are some that just go too far for me. It's not the actual killing that bothers me, it's the scenarios and sometimes victims that bother me, so the answer is no.

I don't believe young children should play violent games, just like they shouldn't watch violent movies.

But will that cause them to go out and kill? No.

 

See that's one thing, his son has mild autism so instead of you know being aware that his kid may not be able to do that stuff, he thinks no kids should be able too, he wants the world to live by his rules.

 

I'm ganna say this is the real issue with video games and 'violence'. Parents not figuring out what is age appropriate and then blaming their lack of parenting (not checking if the game is safe) on the game. It's the games fault for being violent instead of the parents fault for monitoring what their child is doing.

 

Dammit, guys. now I'm walking into every room of my house scanning for spiders and moving around like a scared kitten waiting for one to appear!

YUP! But y'know when I was a kid, it was D&D's fault. Something new and/or misunderstood by those in power is a simple thing to blame instead of going after the real issue... like the fact that there are legitimate broken issues.
