    I would say take it back, as for money back and go to a different pharmacy? Explain to them you can't take that medicine and that you want what was prescribed.

    I would call the doctor and tell them what happened... If it's a totally different medication the doctor could probably call a new prescription into another pharmacy or something. My wife had that happen once and we called the doctor and he basically chewed the pharmacy out.

    Come to find out what they gave her could have caused a massive blood sugar drop.

    Yupp, google it, apparently perfectly legal lol. They didn't even tell me they did it, only noticed when I got home :emoji_joy:

    CVS' site says no refunds on prescriptions but like.. kind of a weird situation so was curious on actual experience
    You couldn't just take it back & swap? :(

    The pharmacist argued that it didn't matter and was "basically" the same. This was a Walgreens btw not some small mom and pop place.

    The place was out of the actual medicine so that's why they subbed it. We offered to wait (we fill a few days early so we never ran out) but they basically told us to eff off.

    One hundred percent go back and ask them wtf. They may have lost the ability to get the medicine you need from a manufacturer so they did a substitute. You should've been informed. If they don't cooperate get your doctor to yell at them.

    I had one of my medicines out a few weeks ago because the manufacturer was on back order or something. I had to call my doctor just to get them to give me the same dosage but one a day instead of 2. That's nuts to me that some place would swap out something different and sometimes not even telling you.

    I know my son wants one but decided not to because he can't afford it. I'm thinking of getting him one as a graduation gift but he worked really hard in high school including working to jobs to pay for his own things, car, clothes, hockey etc at a time when I couldn't work and still has one of those jobs and seldom asks us top pay for his things and usually ask for help not out right buying it for him

    I know...it's not like it was just her though. It was while she was pregnant and she was having a HORRIBLE pregnancy (ie we honestly thought she was going to die) and they just subbed this out and luckily we caught it. Had they just...called and told us it was out or they wanted to sub it I probably wouldn't have been mad at all.
